This occultation is a great opportunity for practise. Star 68-Gem is a bright double 5,3 mag. You can make a visual observation and practise your timing methods: chronometer or voice recorder.
For synchronizing to accurate time, you can use Canada Atomic Clock Telephone Time (by dialing the Ottawa telephone numbers 613-745-1576 for English service and 613-745-9426 for French service) or a shortwave radio to tune in to Canada Atomic Clock frequencies 3330, 7850, or 14670 kHz.
The visual observation of this bright star reappearance behind the dark limb of the Moon will be a fantastic experience!
The Moon will be at East, 16 degrees above horizon. Time 22:32. The weather prediction is not bad.
NEW: Frank Tomaras and I will observe from a small Park on the Laval side of point Cartierville bridge: LAT 45°32’0.71″N, LON 73°44’3.19″W. You are welcome, with or without your telescope or binoculars.
